These findings validate the accuracy demonstrated in the Anytime CT3 CGM registration study and show that Anytime CT3 matches the performance of today’s leading, clinically trusted CGM systems used in routine diabetes care. The study was conducted **independently by researchers at the University of Leeds**, ensuring that the evaluation of Anytime CT3’s performance was carried out without involvement in the study design, data collection or analysis by Yuwell or Urathon. The trial was conducted by Dr’s Lancaster, Edwards, Harper, Garner and Utley, who bring extensive experience in diabetes and clinical research to the work. The trial evaluated the performance of the Anytime CT3 against capillary [blood glucose measurements](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/wellness-tracker/) in adults living with [type 2 diabetes](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/type-2-diabetes-nhs/). Accuracy was assessed across a wide spectrum of glucose values and under real‑world conditions, with MARD as the primary endpoint. A MARD of **6.9%** in people with type 2 diabetes shows that Anytime CT3 readings on average differed by **less than 7%** from values measured with a **commonly used blood glucose meter**. This level of accuracy supports its use in guiding everyday treatment decisions and lifestyle choices. The study found that above 99% of paired readings fell within clinically safe error zones, and that accuracy was maintained across all analysed glucose levels and throughout the full sensor wear period. Taken together, these findings show that Anytime CT3 provides reliable, consistent glucose data suitable for use in [prediabetes](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-you-need-to-know-about-pre-diabetes-and-how-to-prevent-type-2-diabete/) and type 2 diabetes, including for individuals who may be new to CGM. “We are absolutely delighted with these results,” said Hugh Sims-Hilditch, Chairman at Urathon. “A MARD of 6.9% (in early stage type 2 diabetes) confirms that Anytime CT3 offers the level of accuracy clinicians and people with diabetes expect from a leading CGM system, while also opening up a more accessible and affordable option for people living with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. This is a major milestone for the Anytime CT3 platform and for our mission to broaden access to high‑quality glucose data.” By providing real‑time glucose readings, trends and alerts, the Anytime CT3 helps users understand how food, activity, medications and stress affect their glucose levels, turning data into actionable insight. The new clinical trial adds to growing evidence that accurate CGM can support better glycaemic outcomes and quality of life, particularly when combined with [structured education](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/nhs-diabetes-prevention-programme/) and ongoing clinical support. It’s about understanding patterns, preventing sudden changes in blood glucose, and feeling confident in everyday life. A [Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM)](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-is-cgm/) gives us the tools to do exactly that. With systems such as [Yuwell Anytime](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/), long-term diabetes management becomes clearer, more consistent, and easier to maintain. ## **What Is a Continuous Glucose Monitor?** A Continuous Glucose Monitor is a device that tracks [blood glucose levels](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/understanding-diabetes/) day and night. Instead of relying only on finger-prick tests, a small sensor worn on the body measures glucose in real time and sends the information to a connected device. For people living with [Type 2 Diabetes](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/type-ii-diabetes/), this constant insight makes a real difference. Rather than guessing how food, exercise, or stress affects blood sugar, we can see it clearly. This ongoing visibility helps us make better decisions about our health. ## **How 24/7 Monitoring Improves Daily Life** One of the greatest benefits of a CGM is round-the-clock monitoring. Blood glucose levels naturally change throughout the day and night, and a traditional test may miss important trends, especially overnight. With a CGM system, we gain access to [real-time blood sugar readings](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/wellness-tracker/) that reveal patterns over days and weeks. We receive alerts for high or low glucose levels, allowing us to adjust meals, activity, and medication with confidence. This ongoing data helps reduce unexpected spikes and dips, which over time can mean improved glucose stability and fewer complications. For many of us managing diabetes, being able to see trends rather than isolated readings often leads to better decisions and improved control. ## Why Cost Matters: The Rechargeable Advantage Cost is often a real concern when choosing a Continuous Glucose Monitor. Many systems rely on disposable transmitters, which add ongoing expense and environmental waste. ## The Smart Choice: Rechargeable Technology The Yuwell Anytime system includes a [rechargeable CGM sensor](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/product/yuwell-anytime-sensor/) and transmitter, offering two clear advantages. We benefit from lower long-term costs whilst reducing our environmental impact. Instead of repeatedly replacing components, we simply recharge the transmitter, making it one of the more cost-effective CGM options available. For those of us managing Type 2 Diabetes over many years, this represents meaningful savings. When we look at overall diabetes care expenses, investing in a reliable[ CGM system](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/continuous-glucose-monitor) can also help reduce the risk of costly complications linked to poorly controlled blood glucose. ## Real Stories from Our Community Technology is helpful, but real stories often say more than technical details. Many Yuwell Anytime users report feeling more in control after making the switch to a CGM. One user with Type 2 Diabetes shared that seeing their blood sugar trends helped them identify which evening snacks were causing overnight spikes. By making small changes, they reduced their morning readings within weeks. Another user [recently diagnosed](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/just-diagnosed-with-diabetes/) found reassurance in constant monitoring. Having access to real-time data helped them build confidence and understand how daily choices affected their glucose levels. When we can clearly see how our habits influence blood glucose, we’re more likely to maintain healthier routines. ## Supporting Long-Term Health and Quality of Life Managing diabetes is a lifelong journey. A CGM supports that journey by offering clear, consistent data, early warning of potential problems, and reduced need for frequent finger-prick testing. We gain greater independence in our daily lives. Stable blood glucose levels are linked to a lower risk of complications affecting the heart, kidneys, and eyes. By providing continuous insight, CGM technology encourages proactive management rather than reactive treatment. For many of us, this means fewer surprises and greater peace of mind. ## Take Control with Yuwell Anytime [Long-term diabetes management](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/exploring-the-benefits-of-cgm-for-long-term-diabetes-management/) requires reliable tools. A Continuous Glucose Monitor provides the ongoing insight we need into blood sugar patterns, whilst the rechargeable CGM sensor and transmitter makes it a practical and cost-effective choice. If we’re ready to improve our glucose control and simplify daily monitoring, the[ Yuwell Anytime system](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/) offers a straightforward solution for effective, long-term diabetes management. If you’ve recently been told your blood [glucose levels](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/understanding-diabetes/) are higher than normal, you’re not alone—and more importantly, you’re not powerless. Pre-diabetes is your body’s early warning system, and with the right tools and lifestyle changes, we believe you can take control before it progresses to [Type 2 diabetes](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/how-to-manage-type-2-diabetes/). ## **What Exactly Is Pre-Diabetes?** Pre-diabetes is a condition where your blood [glucose levels](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/understanding-diabetes/) are elevated above normal ranges, but not yet high enough to be classified as Type 2 diabetes. We like to think of it as a crossroads: it’s a clear signal that your body is struggling to manage glucose effectively, but it’s also an opportunity to change course. Research indicates that without intervention, up to 70% of people with pre-diabetes will develop Type 2 diabetes within their lifetime. However, here’s the encouraging news we want to share: small, consistent lifestyle changes yield remarkable results in reversing this trajectory. ## **Understanding Your Risk: Who’s Most Vulnerable?** Certain factors increase the likelihood of developing pre-diabetes. Being overweight or carrying excess weight around your middle can affect how your body processes glucose. Leading a sedentary lifestyle with limited physical activity also plays a significant role, as does having a family history of Type 2 diabetes. We’ve noticed that age is a factor too—those over 40 are at higher risk, though younger people are increasingly affected. Previous gestational diabetes during pregnancy and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are also important risk factors to consider. If any of these apply to you, we recommend [monitoring your blood glucose](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/wellness-tracker/) becomes even more crucial. Understanding where you stand empowers you to take proactive steps towards better health. ## **How Continuous Glucose Monitoring Changes the Game** Traditional glucose monitoring involves sporadic finger pricks that offer only snapshots of your blood sugar levels. But what if you could see the complete picture—how your glucose responds to every meal, workout, or stressful day? That’s where [continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-is-cgm/) technology transforms diabetes prevention. A CGM device provides glucose readings every three minutes, giving you real-time feedback on how your body responds to your daily choices. [The Yuwell Anytime CGM](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/anytime-ct-3/) offers an affordable, user-friendly solution that we’ve designed to make this powerful technology accessible. With its world-first rechargeable transmitter and intuitive mobile app, you can track patterns, spot trends, and make informed decisions about your health—all without the hassle of constant finger pricks or scanning. ## **Practical Steps to Prevent Type 2 Diabetes** **Revamp Your Diet Gradually** You don’t need a complete overhaul overnight. We encourage you to focus on incorporating more whole grains, lean proteins, and vegetables whilst reducing refined carbohydrates and sugary foods. A CGM can show you exactly which foods cause glucose spikes, helping you personalise your nutrition plan. Learn more about how different foods affect your glucose levels. **Move Your Body Regularly** We recommend aiming for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity weekly. This could be brisk walking, cycling, swimming, or dancing—whatever you enjoy most. Physical activity improves insulin sensitivity, helping your cells use glucose more efficiently. Discover the best exercises for managing blood glucose. **Prioritise Quality Sleep** Poor sleep disrupts hormones that regulate glucose and appetite. We’ve found that aiming for 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night supports your body’s natural metabolic processes. Read our guide on how sleep affects blood sugar levels. **Manage Stress Effectively** Chronic stress elevates cortisol levels, which can raise blood glucose. We suggest incorporating relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, or simply spending time in nature. Explore our stress management strategies for better glucose control. ## **Why the Yuwell Anytime CGM Is Your Prevention Partner** We believe managing pre-diabetes shouldn’t feel overwhelming or financially burdensome. This compares to 5% of the UK population with cancer (3.5 million people). Each week alone, the condition leads to 184 amputations, 812 strokes, 568 heart attacks, and 2,909 cases of heart failure—yet [groundbreaking new evidence published in Endocrine Today](https://www.healio.com/news/endocrinology/20251121/frequent-cgm-use-results-in-greater-glycemic-benefits-for-adults-with-type-2-diabetes) shows that frequent use of [continuous glucose monitors (CGM)](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-is-cgm/) delivers significantly greater glycaemic control in Type 2 diabetes patients, offering a clear route to prevent these devastating complications. **Damage Begins Early—And Cannot Be Reversed** Diabetes is not simply elevated blood sugar. It is a chronic disease capable of inflicting slow, irreversible harm throughout the body long before symptoms appear. Persistently high glucose levels damage blood vessels and nerves, dramatically increasing the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney failure requiring dialysis, lower-limb amputation, and preventable blindness. In the UK, diabetes is the leading cause of [preventable sight loss](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/understanding-diabetes/) in working-age adults and the second leading cause of kidney failure. The NHS spends approximately £10.7 billion annually on diabetes—40% on diagnosis and routine care, and £6.2 billion on largely preventable complications. “Much of this damage cannot be reversed once it begins,” warns [Dr Dawn Harper](https://www.drdawn.com/), NHS GP, author, broadcaster and Medical Ambassador for the [Anytime CGM](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/). “This is why early awareness and proactive glucose management are essential. I live with diabetes myself. Wearing my CGM has helped me drop my HbA1c from 48 to 39. I would be telling a very different story (and potentially have a very different future) if I hadn’t had the opportunity to wear a CGM.” She continues, “I also believe, sadly, that diabetes alone could bankrupt the NHS in my lifetime. Type 2 diabetes accounts for over 90% of the diabetic population – if we can tackle this at the grassroots of the disease and focus on prevention and remission, we have a chance to save the health of millions and the future of our NHS.” **CGM Delivers Greater Glycaemic Benefits for Type 2 Diabetes** New research published in *Healio Endocrinology* demonstrates that adults with Type 2 diabetes who use continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) frequently achieve significantly better glycaemic outcomes than those using traditional finger-prick testing. The study found that consistent CGM use resulted in improved time-in-range, reduced glucose variability, and better overall diabetes control—key factors in preventing the organ damage that claims hundreds of lives each week across the UK. Despite this evidence, CGM access remains limited. While NHS England has expanded CGM provision for Type 1 diabetes patients and some Type 2 cohorts, millions remain reliant on outdated monitoring methods that provide only snapshots of glucose levels rather than continuous insight. **One in Three UK Adults Now at High Risk** The scale of the UK’s diabetes crisis is accelerating. More than one in three adults are now at [high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-you-need-to-know-about-pre-diabetes-and-how-to-prevent-type-2-diabete/), with diagnosed cases projected to exceed 5.7 million by the end of 2025. GP-recorded Type 2 diabetes prevalence rose to 7.0% in March 2024, up from 6.8% the previous year, marking the highest rate ever reported by the National Diabetes Audit. Age, weight, inactivity, and genetic predisposition all contribute to risk, yet the use of CGM enables personalised prevention and management strategies, supporting prevention and remission reducing, and in some cases negating, the use of pharmaceuticals. **Call to Action: Early Detection, CGM Access, and Prevention** [Yuwell Anytime CGM](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/) and [Dr Dawn Harper](http://www.drdawn.com/) are urging the UK government and NHS leaders to: - Expand CGM access for all Type 2 diabetes patients who would benefit, following the evidence that frequent CGM use delivers superior glycaemic control. - Prioritise early detection through expanded screening - Invest in prevention and education programmes to reach the 20 million+ adults at risk before they progress to full diagnosis and irreversible complications. “With better access to proven monitoring technologies like CGM, individuals can adopt healthier habits sooner, [schedule more frequent screenings](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/the-importance-of-early-diagnosis-in-diabetes-and-how-to-take-control/), and work with healthcare providers to manage their diabetes risk and / or disease,” says Dr Dawn. “If diabetes is identified earlier, prevented more effectively, and managed with greater precision, we can change the trajectory of this devastating disease, one sensor, at a time.” ![author avatar](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/e5be9ebeede3b57caacc3455cd0f10bc3c71a4c5f6ce7e4cefca6dd38b459fb1?s=300&d=mm&r=g) adam.vines [See Full Bio](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) [ ](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) **Categories:** Uncategorized --- ### [Type II diabetes, already affecting almost 20% of the UK population (12 million people), and is increasing like no other disease.](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/type-ii-diabetes/) **Published:** November 20, 2025 **Author:** adam.vines **Content:** **The UK is facing a new national health catastrophe. Urathon now supplies the latest CGM to the UK market. This new device, the Anytime CGM, is being offered to the NHS at a cost of up to 50% less than other similar devices, presenting an affordable option to roll out wider access to CGM tech at the grassroots of the disease. The [Yuwell Anytime](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/) would cost the NHS just £175 per person for three months usage, which is what we recommend for prediabetics and Type II. This is a tiny percentage of the 12 million plus people who are at risk. If CGM is included in the programme, uptake, engagement would increase hugely, resulting in saving the health of millions and saving the NHS and economy £billions. **Health Impacts:** - Type 2 diabetes contributes to soaring rates of **disease and amputations**… - Every **WEEK**, people with Type II suffer: - 660 HEART ATTACKS - 930 STROKES - 2,990 HEART FAILURES - 184 AMPUTATIONS - **Diabetes is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD)** and end-stage renal disease in the UK. **Obesity: The Core Driver:** - Obesity is the **primary modifiable risk factor** for Type 2 diabetes: approximately **90% of adults with Type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese**, and obese individuals are **five times more likely** to develop the disease than those at a healthy weight - As of 2022–23, **64% of English adults** were overweight or obese, including **26.2% clinically obese**—a rising trend setting the stage for continued diabetes surge **Financial burden:** - Treating Type 2 diabetes, costs the NHS an estimated **£10.7 billion annually**, with broader economic impacts estimated at **£27 billion** - **£8 billion of the £10.7 billion NHS spend is on the extremely serious complications, including renal failure, heart disease, loss of sight and amputations.** ![author avatar](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/e5be9ebeede3b57caacc3455cd0f10bc3c71a4c5f6ce7e4cefca6dd38b459fb1?s=300&d=mm&r=g) adam.vines [See Full Bio](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) [ ](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) **Categories:** Uncategorized --- ### [Two Global Medical Device Giants Join Forces to Combat Type 2 Diabetes, Slashing NHS Budgets and Stemming the Devastating Growth of the Disease](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/urathon/) **Published:** November 20, 2025 **Author:** adam.vines **Content:** UK-based Urathon Europe Ltd has been granted exclusive distribution rights in the UK for a new next-generation Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), by Chinese manufacturing giant, Yuwell. Launching 14th May 2025, the Yuwell Anytime CGM is set to transform the face of Type II diabetes, one of the biggest drains on the NHS, and the leading cause of serious secondary health complications including renal failure, heart disease, stroke, nerve damage and degrees of sight loss. The exponential increase in Type II diabetes far exceeds predictions made just ten years ago. In addition, the prevalence of the disease in people under 40 years old saw an alarming 40% increase between 2017 and 2023. Just 8% of the UK population living with diabetes have the incurable Type I diabetes. The vast majority (90%) of diabetes sufferers have been diagnosed with Type II, which can be managed through lifestyle, and a large percentage of Type II diabetics can successfully go into remission. In addition, 1 in 9 adults have been diagnosed with prediabetes, and are at risk of going on to develop Type II. Tackling Type II diabetes is critical for both the heath of the nation and the health of the NHS. The use of CGM in people with prediabetes and those with early onset Type II is the cure to the crippling expense this lifestyle-led disease causes. The new Yuwell Anytime CGM system presents the most affordable solution to this crisis. It boasts a world-first rechargeable CGM transmitter that lasts two years, slashing the cost compared to alternative CGM systems – the cost of the Yuwell Anytime system therefore represents over 35% less per year to both the NHS and self-funding patients, meaning access to life changing tech to combat Type II diabetes has been revolutionised. Add to that the slash in cost to the NHS for treatment and medication through prevention and remission, Yuwell Anytime presents the UK with the opportunity to save the NHS £billions per year and positively improve the health of tens of millions of people. [Yuwell Anytime](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/) in the UK will spearhead a national public health campaign for CGM tech to be made more widely available at the grassroots of the Diabetes endemic, to combat the growth of the disease and reduce the number of sufferers. Working in partnership with Leeds University, Brunel University and UCL, and with support from the NIHR, Yuwell Anytime will drive prevention and remission. Yuwell Anytime Brand Medical Ambassador and NHS GP, Dr Dawn Harper, MBBS, MRCP, DCH, DFFP, said: “I would love to see this device incorporated into the NHS ‘diabetes prevention programme’. It could help improve the health of millions and save the NHS billions. Having been diagnosed with diabetes myself, wearing the Yuwell anytime device gave me real time insights into how my body reacts to different foods. I used the insights to adapt my diet and my HbA1c is now out of the diabetic range.” Yuwell Anytime Clinical Trial Lead, Dr Andrea Utley, BSc (Hons), PGCE, PhD, said: “Our trial tested the Yuwell Anytime device on a diverse range of individuals with Type II diabetes. Findings showed a good level of accuracy when compared to a standard finger prick glucose test. In addition the Yuwell device proved to trend well showing excellent performance across a range of glucose levels.” ![author avatar](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/e5be9ebeede3b57caacc3455cd0f10bc3c71a4c5f6ce7e4cefca6dd38b459fb1?s=300&d=mm&r=g) adam.vines [See Full Bio](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) [ ](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) **Categories:** Uncategorized --- ### [Type 2 Diabetes on course to bankrupt the NHS in less than 10 years](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/type-2-diabetes-nhs/) **Published:** November 20, 2025 **Author:** adam.vines **Content:** **The NHS Type II Diabetes Prevention Week runs 26th May to 1st June 2025 – Dr Dawn Harper with Yuwell Anytime is campaigning for Government and the NHS to focus on Prevention and Remission to save the NHS** The exponential increase in diabetes far exceeds predictions made just 7 years ago, setting a gravely concerning trend. In 2018 there were 3.2 million people living with diabetes. This was predicted to rise to 5 million by this year, 2025. However, the harsh reality is that there are already 5.8 million living with diabetes this year; PLUS an estimated 1.3 million people living with undiagnosed Type II; PLUS 6.3 million people who have been diagnosed as prediabetic. Type II Diabetes accounts for 90% of the 5.8 million people living with diabetes in the UK. Add onto that the 6.3 million prediabetics today, who without intervention will go onto develop Type II. Whilst there is no cure for Type I Diabetes, Type II diabetes is preventable through lifestyle. And people with Type II Diabetes can go into remission through lifestyle management. The ONLY cure to this disease, which will bankrupt the NHS and destroy the health of millions of people in the UK, is by prevention and remission. This can be done by widely employing better health screening and NHS access to Continuous Glucose Monitoring tech (CGM) to prediabetics and non-insulin dependent Type II’s. CGM tech empowers patients to understand the impact of lifestyle choices – dietary, stress and physical activity – on their blood glucose levels and support them to understand the lifestyle changes they need to make to maintain their levels within a healthy range. This with the NHS’s National Diabetes Prevention Programme could save the NHS £billions and save the health of millions of people in the UK. We need to stop the growth of Type II Diabetes in its tracks and reverse the millions of people already living with the disease by getting them into remission. The UK could easily have 13.4 million diabetics by 2035 based on statistical recorded data between 2018 and today. And that does not even take into account new diagnosis made over the next ten years using the HbA1c test, which came into use as an official diagnostic test by the World Health Organisation in 2011. Currently the NHS spend on diabetes is £10.7 billion a year, accounting for a huge 10% of the entire NHS annual budget – equivalent to around £1.85 million per person per year. The prediction from the charity Diabetes UK is that this budget will increase to £18 billion per year by 2035, which is a gross underestimate… At the current rate of growth in the prevalence of diabetes, the actual annual cost to the NHS could easily rise well over £25 billion per year well before 2035. Diabetes is a leading cause of death in people with heart disease. It is also the leading cause of secondary illness and disease. During this national NHS Type II Diabetes Prevention Week it is crucial to raise awareness of this devastating disease and support Dr Dawn Harper and Yuwell Anytime’s campaign for prevention and remission. Dr Dawn Harper, NHS GP, Broadcaster, Author and who is in remission from Diabetes, is available for interview and comment for press and broadcast. [Yuwell Anytime UK](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/), distributed by Urathon Europe Ltd, is spearheading this campaign. Yuwell Anytime is a new next generation CGM device, launched this month in the UK, with full clinical trials from Leeds University. The device is already widely used in other global territories. It represents cutting-edge tech at over 40% less cost to the NHS, presenting a potential saving of £billions for NHS budgets. Launch announcement press release available. ![author avatar](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/e5be9ebeede3b57caacc3455cd0f10bc3c71a4c5f6ce7e4cefca6dd38b459fb1?s=300&d=mm&r=g) adam.vines [See Full Bio](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) [ ](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) **Categories:** Uncategorized --- ### [Type 2 Diabetes Tech: A Game-Changer Poised to Save Millions of Lives and Slash NHS Costs by Billions](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/https-www-yuwellanytime-co-uk-type-2-diabetes/) **Published:** November 20, 2025 **Author:** adam.vines **Content:** ## **Type II Diabetes is the fastest growing disease in the UK, and the leading cause of soaring rates of Cardio, Metabolic and Renal (CMR) diseases. CMR diseases are the leading cause of deaths and are crippling the NHS. **Increased screening with wearable tech is the only solution to prevent this looming national health disaster.**** The NHS is already looking at trialling a revolutionary new at-home finger prick test to screen for diabetes *(source: BBC News 24/08/25)*, proposed to be rolled out in Northeast England initially, to find the ‘missing millions’ who are estimated to be living with diabetes without knowing it. Dr Dawn Harper, NHS GP, TV Presenter, author and living with diabetes herself, is calling for CGM tech to support screening diagnoses. Dr Dawn says: “*Following my diagnosis I wore a CGM which gave me personalised data regarding my diet and sugar levels, which I could not have known any other way. The information I was given from the GCM has enabled me to put my diabetes into remission, and I feel very strongly that everyone with prediabetes or Type II should be given the same opportunity to change their future.”* [CGM](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-is-cgm/) (Continuous Glucose Monitors) are wearable devices that monitor blood glucose levels continuously in real time. The data from CGM devices is sent to a smartphone or smartwatch, providing patients with detailed personalised insights into the lifestyle factors that cause glucose levels to become dangerously high or low (hyperglycaemia or hypoglycaemia). This information empowers behavioural change and personal healthcare management, enabling the individual to maintain their glucose levels within the safe range, thus preventing that person from developing the devastating complications and life-threatening diseases resulting from Type II Diabetes. Increased screening will identify millions of ‘new’ diabetics’, however without the invaluable insights and support CGM tech provides, these newly diagnosed patients will not be able to effectively manage their disease and will go on to develop diseases including cancer, dementia, heart disease, kidney disease, severe mental illness and loss of eyesight and limbs. This catastrophic cost to both the nation’s health and the public purse will cripple the UK. ![author avatar](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/e5be9ebeede3b57caacc3455cd0f10bc3c71a4c5f6ce7e4cefca6dd38b459fb1?s=300&d=mm&r=g) adam.vines [See Full Bio](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) [ ](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) **Categories:** Uncategorized --- ### [The Importance of Early Diagnosis in Diabetes and How to Take Control](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/the-importance-of-early-diagnosis-in-diabetes-and-how-to-take-control/) **Published:** July 17, 2025 **Author:** admin **Content:** Diabetes affects millions of people worldwide, yet many remain unaware they’re living with this condition until complications arise. At Yuwell Anytime, we’ve witnessed firsthand how early diagnosis and proper glucose monitoring can transform lives. Understanding the critical importance of catching diabetes in its early stages isn’t just about managing symptoms—it’s about preventing a cascade of health complications that could otherwise be avoided. ## Understanding the Diabetes Spectrum: From Pre-Diabetes to Type 2 ### **The Silent Progression of Pre-Diabetes** Pre-diabetes serves as a crucial warning sign that shouldn’t be ignored. During this stage, blood glucose levels are elevated but haven’t yet reached the threshold for a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. We’ve observed that many individuals with pre-diabetes experience no noticeable symptoms, making regular monitoring essential for early detection. Research indicates that without intervention, approximately 70% of people with pre-diabetes will develop Type 2 diabetes within a decade. However, this progression isn’t inevitable. Early identification through regular glucose monitoring provides an opportunity to implement lifestyle changes that can prevent or significantly delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes. ### **The Critical Window for Type 2 Diabetes Prevention** Type 2 diabetes develops gradually, often over several years. During this window, the body becomes increasingly resistant to insulin, and the pancreas struggles to produce adequate amounts to maintain normal blood glucose levels. We’ve found that individuals who monitor their glucose levels regularly are more likely to identify concerning patterns before they develop into full-blown diabetes. The beauty of early detection lies in its prevention potential. When we catch elevated glucose levels early, there’s still time to implement dietary changes, increase physical activity, and establish healthier lifestyle patterns that can reverse the trajectory towards diabetes. ## The Role of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Early Detection ### **Beyond Traditional Testing Methods** Traditional finger-prick tests and annual health checks, whilst valuable, only provide snapshots of glucose levels at specific moments. We’ve developed our Anytime CT-3 system to address this limitation by offering comprehensive, real-time glucose monitoring that captures the full picture of how your body responds to food, exercise, stress, and sleep. Our continuous glucose monitoring solution provides readings every three minutes, creating a detailed map of your glucose patterns throughout the day. This level of detail reveals trends that might otherwise go unnoticed, such as post-meal spikes or overnight glucose fluctuations that could indicate early insulin resistance. ### **Making Glucose Monitoring Accessible and Sustainable** We’ve designed our rechargeable CGM transmitter with a two-year lifespan specifically to make glucose monitoring more accessible for long-term use. Unlike traditional systems that require frequent replacements, our approach reduces both environmental impact and ongoing costs, making consistent monitoring more sustainable for individuals and families. The system’s Bluetooth connectivity seamlessly syncs with smartphones, allowing users to track their glucose trends through our intuitive app. This technology eliminates the need for manual logging and provides instant access to historical data, making it easier to identify patterns and share information with healthcare providers. ## Taking Control Through Early Intervention ### **The Power of Informed Decision-Making** When individuals have access to real-time glucose data, they can make informed decisions about their diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices. We’ve observed that people using continuous glucose monitoring often develop a deeper understanding of how different foods affect their blood glucose levels, leading to more conscious dietary choices. This awareness extends beyond just avoiding high-sugar foods. Users discover how factors like meal timing, portion sizes, and food combinations impact their glucose response. Such insights empower individuals to take control of their health proactively rather than reactively. ### **Building Sustainable Health Habits** Early diagnosis combined with continuous monitoring creates an ideal environment for developing sustainable health habits. Rather than making dramatic changes after a diabetes diagnosis, individuals can implement gradual modifications while monitoring their effectiveness through glucose data. Our 14-day sensor wear period, combined with customisable alerts and alarms, helps users establish routines that support stable glucose levels. These tools serve as gentle reminders and motivation to maintain healthy choices throughout the day. ### **The Yuwell Anytime Advantage in Diabetes Management** We’ve eliminated the discomfort and inconvenience of traditional finger-prick tests whilst providing more comprehensive data than ever before. Our system’s unlimited data storage ensures that no valuable information is lost, creating a complete picture of glucose patterns over time. The comfort and discretion of our sensors mean that monitoring doesn’t interfere with daily activities. Users can exercise, shower, and sleep normally whilst maintaining continuous monitoring, ensuring that no important glucose events go undetected. ## Your Next Steps Towards Better Health Early diagnosis and continuous glucose monitoring represent powerful tools in the fight against diabetes, but they’re most effective when combined with professional healthcare guidance. If CGM is included in the programme, uptake, engagement would increase hugely, resulting in saving the health of millions and saving the NHS and economy £billions. **Obesity: The Core Driver:** - Obesity is the **primary modifiable risk factor** for Type 2 diabetes: approximately **90% of adults with Type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese**, and obese individuals are **five times more likely** to develop the disease than those at a healthy weight - As of 2022–23, **64% of English adults** were overweight or obese, including **26.2% clinically obese**—a rising trend setting the stage for continued diabetes surge **Financial burden – FACTS:** - Treating Type 2 diabetes, costs the NHS an estimated **£10.7 billion annually**, with broader economic impacts estimated at **£27 billion** - **£8 billion of the £10.7 billion NHS spend is on the extremely serious complications, including renal failure, heart disease, loss of sight and amputations.** **The ONLY CURE is prevention in people with prediabetes, and remission in people with Type II** This can be achieved without medication, through the use of Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices (CGM’s); in tandem with the NHS’s National Diabetes Prevention Programme education in Primary Care. CEO of Urathon Europe ltd, Hugh Sims Hilditch, is calling for urgent action now and is meeting with MP’s to offer a crisis strategy, offering his consultancy time free of charge to Wes Streeting. Urathon Europe Ltd, has a proven track record as a VIP supplier to the NHS during Covid, supplying over 200 million facemasks; also providing product procurement consultancy, quality control consultancy for other products throughout the pandemic. Urathon now supplies the latest CGM to the UK market. This new device, the Anytime CGM, is being offered to the NHS at a cost of up to 50% less than other similar devices, presenting an affordable option to roll out wider access to CGM tech at the grassroots of the disease. The Anytime would cost the NHS just £175 per person on the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, for a recommended three months’ usage, a tiny fraction of the costs of medical treatment which would otherwise be incurred for these patients. ![author avatar](https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/e5be9ebeede3b57caacc3455cd0f10bc3c71a4c5f6ce7e4cefca6dd38b459fb1?s=300&d=mm&r=g) adam.vines [See Full Bio](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) [ ](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/author/adam-vines/) **Categories:** Uncategorized --- ### [How to Manage Type 2 Diabetes: Lifestyle Changes and Tools for Success](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/how-to-manage-type-2-diabetes/) **Published:** October 30, 2025 **Author:** admin **Content:** Managing [Type 2 Diabetes](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/understanding-diabetes/) effectively requires more than medication—it demands a comprehensive approach combining lifestyle modifications with modern monitoring tools. At Yuwell Anytime, we’ve witnessed how the right combination of dietary changes, exercise, and glucose monitoring can transform lives. The journey to better diabetes management begins with understanding that small, consistent lifestyle changes yield remarkable results. When paired with reliable glucose monitoring, these changes become more effective, allowing real-time feedback on how your body responds. ## What Lifestyle Changes Make the Biggest Difference? The foundation of Type 2 Diabetes management lies in sustainable lifestyle modifications that support stable blood sugar levels. ## How Does Diet Impact Blood Sugar Control? [Dietary choices](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/just-diagnosed-with-diabetes/#4-adopt-a-healthy-lifestyle-4) directly influence your blood glucose levels, making nutrition a cornerstone of diabetes management. We’ve observed that individuals who adopt a balanced diet rich in whole grains, lean proteins, and vegetables whilst limiting processed foods experience more stable glucose readings. Portion control plays an equally important role. Using glucose monitoring helps you understand how meal sizes affect your blood sugar response. Rather than following rigid dietary rules, you can personalise eating patterns based on actual data. ## Why Is Physical Activity Essential? Regular exercise improves insulin sensitivity, helping your body use glucose more effectively. Even moderate activities like brisk walking for 30 minutes most days can significantly improve blood sugar control. The [Yuwell Anytime CGM](https://www.yuwellanytime.co.uk/what-is-cgm/) allows you to monitor how different types of exercise affect your glucose levels. This real-time feedback transforms exercise into an engaging experiment where you can see immediate benefits. ## How Does Glucose Monitoring Support Better Decisions? The transmitter’s long battery life means fewer interruptions, whilst you only need to replace the sensor every two weeks. This makes consistent glucose monitoring more achievable for managing Type 2 Diabetes. ## How Does Technology Enable Diabetes Prevention? For those at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes, early intervention through lifestyle changes and monitoring can prevent or delay progression. ## Can Glucose Monitoring Help Prevent Diabetes? Research indicates that individuals with pre-diabetes who implement lifestyle modifications whilst monitoring glucose levels are more likely to prevent or delay Type 2 Diabetes onset. The Yuwell Anytime system provides feedback showing which changes work. This proactive approach allows you to experiment with different dietary patterns and exercise routines whilst observing effects on your blood sugar. Such personalised insights empower informed decisions supporting diabetes prevention. ## What Makes the Yuwell Anytime System Different? Beyond our rechargeable transmitter, our system offers unlimited data storage ensuring no information is lost. Customisable alerts help maintain awareness without constant checking, whilst comfortable sensors don’t interfere with daily activities. We’ve eliminated the discomfort of traditional finger-prick tests whilst providing comprehensive data, making glucose monitoring an integrated part of your routine. ## Take Control of Your Diabetes Management Today Managing Type 2 Diabetes successfully requires commitment, but you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is an innovative method for tracking glucose levels in real-time, offering significant advantages over traditional fingerstick testing. By providing continuous data, CGMs empower individuals, especially those managing diabetes, to make informed decisions about their health. The Yuwell Anytime CGM system is especially useful for those diagnosed with prediabetes, to help people manage their lifestyle to prevent going on to develop Type II. ## How CGM Works A typical CGM system consists of three main components: 1. **Sensor**: A small electrode inserted just beneath the skin, often on the abdomen or arm. It measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid—the fluid surrounding cells. 2. **Transmitter**: Attached to the sensor, it wirelessly sends glucose data to a receiver or compatible smart device. 3. **Receiver/Display Device**: This could be a standalone device or a smartphone app that displays real-time glucose readings, trends, and alerts. The sensor continuously monitors glucose levels, typically providing updates every few minutes. Yuwell Anytime provides readings every three minutes. ## Benefits of CGM - **Real-Time Monitoring**: Users receive continuous updates on their glucose levels, allowing for timely interventions. - **Trend Analysis**: CGMs provide data on glucose trends, helping users understand how factors like diet, exercise, and medication affect their levels. - **Alerts and Alarms**: Many CGMs can alert users to high or low glucose levels, enhancing safety and proactive management. - **Reduced Fingerstick Testing**: CGMs minimise the need for regular fingerstick tests. ## Recent Developments The CGM landscape has seen notable advancements: - **Over-the-Counter Availability**: Devices like Abbott's Lingo and Dexcom's Stelo have been approved for over-the-counter sales in the U.S., making CGMs more accessible to a broader audience, including health enthusiasts without diabetes. *Find out more here:* [reuters.com](https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/abbott-launches-over-the-counter-continuous-glucose-monitor-us-2024-09-05/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) - **Extended Sensor Lifespan**: The FDA-approved Eversense 365 offers an implantable sensor lasting up to a year, reducing the need for frequent replacements. *Find out more here:* [Verywell Health](https://www.verywellhealth.com/eversense-365-cgm-fda-clearance-8718361?utm_source=chatgpt.com) ## Considerations While CGMs offer numerous benefits, it's essential to consider: - **Calibration Needs**: Some systems may require periodic calibration with traditional blood glucose measurements. - **Cost and Insurance Coverage**: The affordability and insurance coverage of CGMs can vary, influencing accessibility. - **Data Interpretation**: Users should work with healthcare professionals to interpret CGM data effectively and adjust treatment plans accordingly. ## Conclusion Continuous Glucose Monitoring represents a significant advancement in diabetes management and health monitoring. By offering real-time insights and reducing the reliance on fingerstick tests, CGMs enhance the quality of life for users. As technology evolves, CGMs are becoming more user-friendly and accessible, paving the way for broader adoption in both clinical and personal health contexts. Please be so kind to collect sufficient information from users based on FAQ before reaching Yuwell Customer Service. For all questions from users that are not included in below FAQs, please reach to Yuwell Customer Service directly. ### Device Initialisation #### How to troubleshoot when a user can't find the Transmitter during CGM initialization **Check the environment:** If the user is in locations such as airports, subways, railway stations, malls, stores, exhibition halls with electric appliances, transformer substations, MRI rooms, or small enclosed spaces, ask them to leave these areas before continuing with the troubleshooting steps below. **Ensure the correct distance:** Ensure the transmitter is within 6 meters of the phone. It’s ideal if both are in the same room and not too far apart. ##### Step 1: Check Bluetooth settings \- Ask the user to verify that Bluetooth is enabled on their phone. They can do this by going to **Settings → Bluetooth → List of Devices.** \- Even if the transmitter appears, **do not connect to it from here.** \- Ask the user to **disconnect any other Bluetooth devices** that are connected. Then, have them try reconnecting the transmitter through the Anytime App again. \- **If it works**, end the troubleshooting process. \- **If it doesn't work**, proceed to Step 2. ##### Step 2: Recharge the transmitter \- Ask the user to **charge the transmitter** until the **blue light turns on**. Ensure the transmitter is placed **on the charging base** when attempting initialization again. \- **If it works**, end the troubleshooting process. \- **If it doesn't work**, proceed to Step 3. ##### Step 3: Try a different phone \- Ask the user to try connecting the transmitter using a **different phone**. Have them search for the transmitter in the Bluetooth settings to see if it can be found. \- This helps determine if the issue is with the phone or the transmitter itself. \- **If the transmitter can be found on the other phone**, ask the user to switch to that phone and log in with their same account. Then, go back to Step 2. \- **If the transmitter still cannot be found**, proceed to Step 4. ##### Step 4: Restart the phone \- Ask the user to **restart their phone** and attempt the initialization again. \- **If it works**, end the troubleshooting process. \- **If it doesn't work**, proceed to Step 5. ##### Step 5: Contact Yuwell Customer Service \- If none of the previous steps worked, please follow the after-sales strategy. Collect the following information to assist Yuwell Customer Service with further support: 1. **Serial number (SN)** of the transmitter. 2. **Screenshot of the app page** showing the transmitter searching issue. 3. **Screenshot of the Bluetooth connection** settings on the user's phone. 4. **Description of the user’s current environment**, such as whether they are in a location like a railway station, airport, or any other place that could interfere with the CGM device. 5. **Confirmation if the transmitter is fully charged** (with the blue light on). 6. **User's phone model and system version**. #### What to do if the user experiences bleeding during CGM initialization ##### Step 1: Stop the bleeding Ask the user to gently press the sensor or transmitter (if the transmitter is already aligned) for a while until the bleeding stops ##### Step 2: Clean and dry the sensor/transmitter Ask the user to clean and dry the sensor and/or transmitter (if the transmitter is already aligned). \- **If bleeding stops** and the sensor/transmitter is dry, end the process. \- **If bleeding continues**, proceed to Step 3. ##### Step 3: Remove the transmitter/sensor and follow after-sales strategy Ask the user to remove the transmitter (if already aligned) and/or sensor. Follow the after-sales strategy. If necessary, contact Yuwell Customer Service for further support. Please collect the following information before reaching out: 1\. **Serial number (SN)** of the transmitter/sensor. 2\. **A picture** of the CGM in place with visible bleeding. 3\. The **QR code** of the sensor on its base. #### What to do if the user feels pain during CGM initialization ##### Step 1: Assess the pain level Ask the user to describe their pain level and their overall feelings to determine whether they can tolerate the discomfort. \- If the pain is slight and the user is mostly feeling worried or scared, proceed to Step 2. \- If the pain is too intense to tolerate, proceed to Step 3. ##### Step 2: Comfort the user and suggest continuing Comfort and encourage the user to continue wearing the CGM. However, advise the user to monitor the sensor’s position and look out for any irregularities. If the user notices any issues with the sensor’s placement, ask them to remove the CGM. ##### Step 3: Remove the CGM Ask the user to remove the CGM immediately if the pain is intolerable. If the user needs to wear another sensor, suggest placing it in a different location with a thicker fat layer, as this could reduce the possibility of pain. ##### Step 4: Follow after-sales procedure Follow the after-sales strategy and contact Yuwell Customer Service for further support. Before reaching out, gather the following information: 1. **Serial number (SN)** of the sensor. 2. A **picture** of the worn CGM. 3. Both the Transmitter and Sensors are waterproof up to 1.5m depth, for a maximum of 2 hours. **The waterproof rating is IP58.** The IP58 waterproof rating is an international standard (IEC 60529) that measures an electronic device's dust and water resistance. Its specific meaning can be explained through two dimensions: dust protection and water protection: ##### 1. Dust Protection Rating (First Digit: 5) - Meaning: The device is protected against dust intrusion, allowing minimal dust entry that does not affect its normal operation. - Test Standard: The device is exposed to a stream of dust in a test chamber (with particles ≤50μm in diameter). After testing, no significant dust accumulation inside the device should impair its functionality. ##### 2. Water Protection Rating (Second Digit: 8) - Meaning: The device can withstand continuous submersion in water under specific pressure and duration without water causing harmful effects. - Test Standard: - Typically, the device must be submerged at a depth exceeding 1 meter for 30 minutes. #### What to do if the adhesive tape loosens or the sensor falls off while wearing the CGM ##### Step 1: Check the buckle Ask the user to check if the buckle is securely fastened. If it is not, instruct the user to remove the transmitter and refasten it to the sensor. Instruct the user to check if the transmitter appears in the Bluetooth settings under Settings → Bluetooth → List of devices (Note: If found, do not connect manually through Bluetooth settings!). Ask the user to disconnect any other Bluetooth devices that may interfere. Then, try to reconnect the transmitter in the Anytime APP. \- If the connection is successful, the issue is resolved. \- If not, proceed to Step 2. ##### Step 2: Test with another phone Ask the user to search for the transmitter using another phone's Bluetooth settings to determine whether the issue is with the phone or the transmitter. \- If the transmitter appears on the second phone, ask the user to log in to their account on the new phone and try connecting the CGM again. \- If the transmitter does not appear, proceed to Step 3. ##### Step 3: Restart the phone Ask the user to restart their phone and try connecting again. \- If the connection is successful, the issue is resolved. \- If not, proceed to Step 4. ##### Step 4: Contact after-sales support If the issue persists, follow the after-sales strategy and contact Yuwell Customer Service with the following information: 1\. **Serial number (SN)** of the sensor. 2\. **A screenshot of the APP** page showing the error message. 3\. **A screenshot of the Bluetooth settings** on the user's phone. 4\. **A description of the user's environment** (e.g., whether they are in a high-interference area like an airport or railway station). 5\. **Confirmation** of whether the transmitter has been fully charged (blue light on). 6\. **Phone model** and **system version**. #### What to do if the message "Check sensor" appears on the APP home page while wearing the CGM ##### Step 1: Inspect the sensor and transmitter Ask the user to remove the transmitter and check if there is steam, sweat, water, or blood on the sensor base or transmitter. If any moisture or residue is present, instruct the user to clean and thoroughly dry both the sensor base and transmitter. ##### Step 2: Reattach the transmitter Ask the user to reattach the transmitter to the sensor. Ensure the buckle is securely fastened by rotating it in reverse to guarantee a proper connection. ##### Step 3: Press the CGM and wait Ask the user to press the CGM gently for a while. Have them wait for 30 minutes to see if the data connection is restored. ##### Step 4: Contact after-sales support If the previous steps do not resolve the issue, follow the after-sales strategy. Contact Yuwell Customer Service for further support and gather the following information: 1\. **Serial number (SN)** of the sensor. 2\. **A screenshot** of the APP home page showing the "Check sensor" message. 3\. **A picture** of the worn sensor without the transmitter. #### What to do if the glucose values from the CGM are inaccurate compared to the BGM (e.g., too high, too low, constantly rising, or constantly dropping) ##### Step 1: Check how long the CGM has been worn Ask the user how many days they have been wearing the CGM. \- If less than or equal to 48 hours, proceed to Step 2. \- If more than 48 hours, proceed to Step 3. ##### Step 2: Explain the adaptive phase Explain to the user that the CGM requires an adaptive phase of up to 48 hours. During this period, the readings may be unstable, but they should improve after the adaptation. ##### Step 3: Check and clean the transmitter and sensor Ask the user to remove the transmitter and check for steam, sweat, water, or blood on the sensor base and transmitter. If any moisture or residue is present, instruct the user to clean and thoroughly dry both the sensor and transmitter. Ask the user to reattach the transmitter to the sensor, ensuring the buckle is properly fastened by rotating it in reverse. Have the user press the CGM gently and wait 30 minutes to see if the data stabilizes. \- If the glucose values stabilize, the issue is resolved. \- If not, proceed to Step 4. ##### Step 4: Compare with BGM under stable conditions Ask the user to provide two sets of glucose values from the BGM for comparison. These values should be taken under stable body conditions (e.g., fasting, before a meal, 2 hours after a meal, before sleep). The CGM measurement should be taken 10–20 minutes after the BGM measurement, following the guidance in the "Expert Consensus on Clinical Application of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in China in 2024". ##### Step 5: Follow after-sales strategy If the issue persists, follow the after-sales strategy. Contact Yuwell Customer Service for further support and collect the following information in advance: 1\. **Serial number (SN)** of the sensor. 2\. **A picture** comparing CGM and BGM values. 3\. **A picture** of the worn sensor. 4\. **A screenshot** of the APP home page. This condition arises either due to the pancreas not producing sufficient insulin or the body's cells not responding effectively to insulin. Chronic high blood sugar can lead to serious health complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and nerve damage. ## Types of Diabetes 1. **Type 1 Diabetes:** An autoimmune condition where the body's immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. This type often manifests in childhood or adolescence but can develop in adults. Individuals with Type 1 diabetes require lifelong insulin therapy. 2. **Type 2 Diabetes:** The most prevalent form, accounting for approximately 90-95% of all diabetes cases. It typically develops in adults but is increasingly seen in younger populations. Type 2 diabetes results from insulin resistance, where the body's cells do not use insulin properly, combined with relative insulin deficiency. Risk factors include obesity, physical inactivity, poor diet, and genetic predisposition. 3. **Gestational Diabetes:** Occurs during pregnancy when the body cannot produce enough insulin to meet the increased demands, leading to elevated blood sugar levels. While it usually resolves after childbirth, it increases the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later in life for both mother and child. 4. **Prediabetes:** A condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be classified as Type 2 diabetes. Individuals with prediabetes are at an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. ## Common Symptoms - Frequent urination - Excessive thirst - Unexplained weight loss - Extreme hunger - Fatigue - Blurred vision - Slow-healing sores - Frequent infections, such as gum or skin infections It's important to note that some individuals, especially those with Type 2 diabetes, may experience mild symptoms or none at all, making regular health check-ups crucial. ## Risk Factors - **Type 1 Diabetes:** Family history, genetic susceptibility, and possible environmental factors. - **Type 2 Diabetes:** Overweight or obesity, sedentary lifestyle, family history, age (risk increases after 45), and certain ethnic backgrounds (e.g., African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian American). - **Gestational Diabetes:** Age over 25, family or personal history of diabetes, excess weight, and non-white race. ## Diagnosis Diabetes is diagnosed through blood tests that measure glucose levels: **Haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Test:** Provides average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months. The HbA1c test, also known as the glycated haemoglobin test, measures the average blood glucose levels over the past two to three months. It does this by assessing the percentage of haemoglobin—a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen—that is coated with sugar (glycated). This test is crucial in diagnosing and monitoring diabetes, as higher HbA1c levels indicate poorer blood sugar control and an increased risk of diabetes-related complications. Understanding HbA1c Levels: Normal: Below 5.7% Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4% Diabetes: 6.5% or higher Regular monitoring of HbA1c helps in managing diabetes effectively, reducing the risk of complications such as cardiovascular diseases, neuropathy, and retinopathy. It's recommended for individuals with diabetes to undergo this test at least twice a year to ensure optimal blood sugar control. Factors Affecting HbA1c Results: Certain conditions can influence HbA1c results, including recent blood loss, haemolytic anaemia, or haemoglobin variants like sickle cell disease. In such cases, alternative tests may be considered for accurate assessment. ## Management and Treatment Effective management aims to maintain blood glucose levels within target ranges to prevent complications: - **Type 1 Diabetes:** Requires regular insulin injections or the use of an insulin pump, along with blood sugar monitoring, healthy eating, and physical activity. - **Type 2 Diabetes:** May be managed with lifestyle modifications such as a balanced diet, regular exercise, weight loss, and medications (oral or injectable). In some cases, insulin therapy is necessary. - **Gestational Diabetes:** Focuses on blood sugar monitoring, dietary changes, physical activity, and, if needed, insulin therapy to ensure a healthy pregnancy. ## Prevention While Type 1 diabetes cannot currently be prevented, adopting a healthy lifestyle can significantly reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes: - **Maintain a Healthy Weight:** Achieve and sustain a healthy body weight through a balanced diet and regular physical activity. - **Engage in Regular Exercise:** Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week. - **Adopt a Balanced Diet:** Focus on whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. - **Regular Health Screenings:** Especially important for those with risk factors to detect and manage prediabetes or diabetes early. Understanding diabetes is the first step toward effective management and prevention. With proper care and lifestyle adjustments, individuals with diabetes can lead healthy, fulfilling lives. These case studies showcase the impact of our CGM system in everyday life, highlighting the performance, reliability, and user experience of our products across a variety of settings. ## Dr Dawn Harper MBBS, MRCP, DCH, DFFP I was first told I was pre diabetic about ten years ago when I was working on Embarrassing Bodies. At a routine NHS Health Check, last year my HbA1c came back in the diabetic range at 48. My BMI is 19.5, I eat healthily and exercise regularly so, even as a GP, I wasn’t sure what I could do in terms of lifestyle to rectify the situation. I decided to wear a Yuwell CGM for a couple of weeks and was surprised to find that, for me, bread (even sourdough bread) is my nemesis. My blood sugars rise to over 20 with just a single slice. I would never have known this without wearing a Yuwell. I have cut out bread entirely from my diet and my HbA1c is now 44 into pre-diabetic range. We know that by the time someone is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, they have a 50% chance of already having developed some of the complications of diabetes such as vascular and nerve damage. Wearing a Yuwell device may well have saved my life! ## Dr James Newton MB:BS, DROCG, MRCGP I am a General practitioner with is 35 years of experience work of working in the UK. in three separate practices. I was asked to evaluate the Yuwell device and particularly to look at how It compares to other devices that do similar things and what the Yuwell’s strengths and unique characteristics are and how that might be used in my own practice to help my own patients. I was able able to use the Yuwell device to help a young 40 year old male diabetic with five children, who was not managing well, particularly when looking at his blood tests showing the HBA1C to be over 100 when the normal range should be between 45 and 58 to prevent complications from his type 2 diabetes. I enabled him to get His HBA1C. down before but he sadly had fallen back principally because he did not feel able to prick his finger to establish his blood sugar three times a day with a glucometer device. One of the things that was very successful with the. Yuwell device was the relative simplicity of setting it up and connecting the device to the patients phone even though it was quite an old model of IPhone, and as soon as this part was done, connection was established and the device was placed onto his abdomen. Over the next 14 days there were over 6000 readings of blood sugar saved onto his phone which I was able to look at and analyse and share with secondary care in the hospital. I am pleased to say the overall trend and time in range was downwards. The fact that the blood sugar was measured every 3 minutes, in my view, helped him look at how his diet and his lifestyle impacted on his diabetes in real time I subsequently used the Yuwell device on myself to investigate why my own HBA1C was bordering prediabetes and I was able to learn about my own blood sugar, particularly interestingly that the tendency for the blood sugar to be raised overnight whilst asleep. (You can’t prick your finger whilst asleep) The Yuwell device showed me a number of useful things about my own lifestyle and did indeed educate me on a few aspects of my diet. I found the technology very robust. It was able to survive being under water in the bath. I was particularly impressed with the fact that the transmitter was reusable. I made a point of using the same transmitter over 42 days. At one point I had both the Yuwell device and the Freestyle Libre device on at the same time. The Libre device was more uncomfortable on my arm and more conspicuous to others as opposed to the Yuwell which was hidden under clothing. The other clever feature is that there is no need to keep tapping the phone onto the transmitter because it connects via Bluetooth so works over a considerable distance maybe 15 metres. The low blood sugar alarm was good and I discovered that my blood sugar goes down late morning to 3.9mmol. The level can be adjusted to increase or decrease the low blood sugar alarm. I particularly liked the software and the graphics that came with the device and found them easy to use and useful when teaching my patient. There is a huge pool, perhaps 5 million patients, with type 2 diabetics and prediabetes where there is now a unique opportunity to prevent harm and more importantly educate the wearer of the Yuwell device to, in real time, make important changes to their everyday activities and thus potentially put their diabetes and prediabetes into remission. The cost benefits to the NHS in my view would be positive given the enormous number of Type 2 diabetics that are storing up a burden of disease for the future. Good control of the time in range score and the taking of statins and good control of blood pressure will together be a great positive for good health we now have a way of encouraging the diabetic patient to engage in all three area’s and also look at how our prescribing of medication is affecting the patient in real time. We have come a long way from testing for sugar in the urine when I first qualified as a GP. I found it particularly refreshing, in this day of throw away plastic, that the same transmitter can be re used for up to a year. This will result in a lower cost as it is only necessary to purchase sensors every 2 weeks. ## Mike Ives On Tuesday, I had a really busy day – up at 5.00 a.m. as is my normal routine, had breakfast at 6.00 & started work at 6.30. I didn’t have time for any lunch that day, as I had a really full schedule, with not just work, but also doing the weekly shop etc. When I got home with the shopping, I was just starting to put it away, when my phone started to vibrate in an unusual pattern, so I took a look at the screen and saw a message telling me to check my blood glucose levels on the app. When I opened the app, it was showing that I had a reading of less than 3 mmol/L! I had absolutely no signs of hypoglycaemia physically, but I knew that if it had got any lower , there was a very serious risk that I could go into hypoglycaemic shock & possibly a coma. If it hadn’t been for the Yuwell CT3 monitor giving me the warning, I would never have known that this was very likely to happen. Fortunately, as I was in my kitchen at the time, I had a jar of honey in the cupboard, which I had a couple of teaspoonfuls of & also prepared a quick meal, to bring my glucose levels back up to normal (for me) levels again. If I had been driving on a fairly long journey, or somewhere other than at home without this device, this could easily have been a very different outcome. It really did help to save my life on Tuesday. Her previous research at the University of Bradford involved investigating Sarcopenia and the effectiveness of nutritional and exercise intervention as a therapeutic for disease. ## Protocol/Methods The study gained full ethical permission from the Faculty of Biological Sciences ethics committee (Application 2044). In addition, the study was registered with the Open Science Framework as a clinical trial (). Participants A total of n=25 participants were recruited for the 10-day study including n= 13 males and n= 12 females. All participants were aged between 37 and 76 years old with a mean age of 57.8. The study population was made up of Type 2 diabetics n=25. 16% of the participants identified as minority ethnic. Body Mass Index (BMI) was also measured with participants ranging from 21.7 to 49.1 with a mean of 30.7. Pilot Test All procedures were tested in a pilot study to ensure that participants were clear on how to: attach and connect the device, administer the finger prick test, record their results. We also check that the workshops that demonstrated how to attach and use the device were clear and appropriate. The pilot tests revealed that all procedures were clear and appropriate. Procedures The participants were asked to monitor their glucose levels for 10 days using two devices. One device was attached to the skin and remained in position for the duration of the study (CT3 Yuwell Continuous Glucose Monitor). The second device was the Accu-chek glucose finger prick test. Participants were asked to take measurements on three occasions per day, before breakfast, before lunch, and before their evening meal. Participants were given a log book in which to record their glucose levels. At the start of the study participants were invited to the University of Leeds so that the use of the device could be demonstrated, consent taken and the participants given the opportunity to ask questions. It was made clear that they have the right to withdraw from the study at any point without giving a reason. The sensor could be placed on the upper arm or stomach and participants were allowed to choose which site they would prefer. All participants placed the sensor on the upper arm. The placement of the sensor and the connection of the transmitted were demonstrated to all participants and the connection via Bluetooth from the transmitter to the phone app of the participant was checked by the researcher. Participants were instructed to carry on with their normal daily activities and it was made clear that the device could remain in place when showering, swimming, or exercising. No changes to the participant’s normal daily routine was required. CT-3 Yuwell (Continuous Glucose Monitoring Device) The device uses mobile Bluetooth and a phone app to report glucose levels that are continuously gathered by the sensor and sent to the phone via the transmitter. The device provided unlimited data storage, readings every 3 minutes, and bluetooth technology that synchs directly to the participants phone or tablet. Accu-chek testing (Finger prick blood testing equipment) The accu-chek devices were checked for accuracy using a control solution kit (Roche, Germany). The kit contained two control solutions, Control 1 and Control 2. A test strip was inserted into the accu-chek device and either Control 1 or Control 2 were applied to the strip. The device was subsequently instructed which control solution was being tested and the screen displayed 'OK' if the validation was correct. A high level of accuracy was found for the accu-chek devices sampled. ## Results A full statistical analysis of the data has been undertaken to examine the accuracy of the CT3 Yuwell CGM compared to the accu-chek finger prick test and to look at the trends of glucose levels over time. It should be noted that the analysis revealed no differences when comparing gender, BMI, and ethic background. Results Summary The results have shown good accuracy for the Yuwell device compared to a fingertip blood glucose test (accu-chek). We have obtained a **MARD of 7.9%** and other statistical measures show a very good agreement between the Yuwell CGM and blood glucose (see figure 1 and 3). In addition the reliability of the sensors accuracy is good across the typical range of glucose concentrations (see figure 2). The Yuwell CGM therefore trends well- spikes in blood glucose are also identified by Yuwell device. Participants gave favourable feedback on the Yuwell device and found it very motivating in terms of monitoring their glucose levels. ![Figure 1. Linear correlation between pairs of CGM and blood measured glucose values. Solid line shows the line of best fit to the total data. Dashed line show 95% confidence intervals of agreement. Pearson correlation gives a correlation coefficient of 0.88 (p<0.001) showing a strong, significant agreement between measures. Across the full data range there is very good agreement between the CGM and blood glucose (MARD 7.9%). ![Figure 1. Linear correlation between pairs of CGM and blood measured glucose values. Bland-Altman analysis of agreement between the measurement approaches. Difference between CGM and blood analysis of glucose vs. glucose concentration. This analysis identifies any concentration-dependent or systematic difference between the two measurement approaches. There is no significant concentration dependent-gradient in variation so reliability of the sensor is preserved across the typical range of glucose concentrations. The distribution does however show a bias between the two with an offset of 0.7 mM, although with a standard deviation of 1.1 mM and broad limits of agreement so this bias does not reach significance. Overall, this indicates good agreement and no significant difference between measures, therefore the device trends well. ![Figure 1. A and B together encapsulate no significant difference between measurement approaches and includes 100 % of data points. The distribution does show the apparent slight bias towards the low side with a number of measures falling into the lower B classification. However, overall there is a very good agreement across the range of distributions. ## Key Findings There are some very encouraging aspects of the Yuwell CGM device. - The accuracy of the device is excellent with a MARD of 7.9. - Good agreement between the Yuwell CGM and the accu-chek indicated by a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.88 (p<0.001). - Excellent preserved agreement across the normally encountered range of concentrations measured- therefore the Yuwell device trends well. - Good agreement between the Yuwell CGM and the accu-chek indicated by Clarke Error Grid Analysis of Data Agreement. All of the above is especially encouraging as the device was tested in ‘free living conditions’. **Should you need further information about the clinical trial please email ** *Data submitted for publication* Clinical Trial Overview There are no headings in this document.
